Karhu

Karhu was born as Ab sportartiklar Oy in a small Helsinki workshop in 1916, hand crafting birchwood sports equipment and finally running shoes. The workshop rebrands as Karhu, the Finnish name for “bear,” in the 1920s. These high performance running shoes found themselves on the feet of Finland’s greatest athletes and runners—soon becoming associated with the famous “Flying Finns.” Their now iconic 1960’s M logo stands for mestari: the Finnish translation of champion.
