The EOS story starts with Doug Midgley, a boot maker and manager of Australia’s Shoe Component & Last factory in the early 1900s. The shoemaking tradition was passed along to his son Noel, an innovative designer of shoe manufacturing machinery, and then to his grandson David who trained as a shoe designer in Italy and Germany. In 1984, Noel and David combined their knowledge of production and design to form EOS Footwear in Melbourne. Today, David runs the company with his son Oliver, the fourth generation of Midgley shoemakers.
