Clarks Originals

The Clarks story begins in 1825 with two brother: Cyrus and James Clark. Their tannery in Street, Somerset produced sheepskin rugs until James had the revelation to use their material offcuts to produce slippers. The Brown Petersburg slipper was the original DNA for the Clarks shoes that would later skyrocket into global fashion in the mid-twentieth century with the launch of the Clarks Desert Boot (created by James Clark’s great-grandson Nathan Clark.) Clarks was further cemented into popular culture with their creation of the iconic Wallabee and Desert Trek designs. These heritage styles remain in their top best selling shoes today, several decades later.
